Members of our institute designed the system for the first base-isolated building in Serbia

These days, the first base-isolated building in Serbia (BioSense Institute) has been constructed, whose base isolation system was designed by members of our institute.

The BioSense building will be unique in Serbia because, thanks to seismic isolators, it will enable the use of sensitive equipment necessary for the development of nanoelectronics. In addition to the unusual architecture, the characteristic constructive solution with the console, and the "forest" of installations, what makes this building special above all is the base isolation of the building, which is a combination of seismic isolators and bearing for isolation from everyday vibrations. In this way, the building is protected from the design earthquake, but also the vibration-sensitive equipment is protected by an anti-vibration bearing. The most complex part of the project was to design the part of the building with the laboratories that house the vibration-sensitive equipment needed for the development of micro- and nanoelectronics, sensors and other devices. For this task, our team performed the calculation and design of base isolators.
